FAQs

What is neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as QEEG biofeedback, is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy that trains the brain to self-regulate and function more efficiently by providing real-time feedback on brainwave activity. This feedback allows individuals to learn how to consciously alter their brainwaves, leading to improved mental health, cognitive performance, and overall well-being.

What conditions can neurofeedback help with?

Neurofeedback therapy can help with various conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, migraines, chronic pain, and more. It can also enhance cognitive performance, focus, and memory in individuals without specific diagnoses.

How does a typical neurofeedback session work?

During a neurofeedback session, sensors are placed on the scalp to measure brainwave activity. This data is then displayed on a computer screen, allowing the client to receive real-time feedback through visual or auditory cues. By responding to these cues, the client learns to consciously regulate their brainwave activity, promoting more adaptive brain function.

How long does a neurofeedback session last?

A typical neurofeedback session lasts between 30-60 minutes, depending on the individual's needs and the specific treatment plan.

How many neurofeedback sessions are needed?

The number of sessions needed varies based on individual goals and the specific condition being treated. Generally, clients begin to see improvements after 10-20 sessions, with optimal results achieved after 20-40 sessions. However, some individuals may require more sessions to experience lasting benefits.

Are there any side effects of neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a safe, non-invasive therapy with minimal side effects. Some clients may experience temporary mild fatigue or headaches following a session, but these symptoms typically subside quickly.

Is neurofeedback covered by insurance?

At this time, neurofeedback is not covered by insurance.
